In order to better support our heroes who provide dedicated life-saving emergency medical service to our communities, the Montgomery Department of Public Safety provides a wide variety of course offerings to address their preparedness needs.

Montgomery County Public Safety Training Center (EMS Institute) courses range from the new Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program through the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic.

Our instructors and staff have years of experience as emergency professionals and provide state-of-the-art education and certification training using modern delivery methods.  Montgomery County EMS Program graduates typically exceed both the state and regional average pass rates for the National Registry certification exams.

Specialized EMS programs offered by the EMS Institute include the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (NDLSF) courses to prepare public health, healthcare and emergency response personnel for mass casualty events.  These courses stress a comprehensive, all-hazards approach in preparing for disasters and public health emergencies.

The Public Safety Training Center often hosts courses in emergency/disaster management, hospital and public health emergency preparedness (HPP/PHEP), CBRNE/WMD, as well as tactical medicine and active shooter events which provide an understanding of complex incident management, unique EMS responder considerations and medical response issues in a  variety of challenging environments.

Montgomery County offers both part time and an accelerated full time course for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  Learn more about the benefits of each of these course offerings.

Montgomery County is a recognized Regional Training Center for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation.
